HOW DO I
APPLY FOR LOUISIANA MEDICAID?
An individual or family
who does not get SSI or FITAP must fill out an application
form. Applying may begin with either a face-to-face or
telephone interview, but an interview is not required.
Applying can be done
personally or by an authorized representative by mail, at
a local Medicaid office, or at a Medicaid Application
Center. |
The Louisiana Medicaid
Program works like other insurance coverage in many ways.
Louisiana Medicaid pays health care providers directly
for covered services, after all other medical insurances,
including Medicare, have paid. Certified recipients who pay
for medical expenses themselves may be reimbursed by Medicaid.
Louisiana's Medicaid
Program is an equal opportunity program. No person may be
discriminated against based on race, color, sex, age,
handicap, religion, nationality, or political belief.
